Patterson Warehouses began in a time of stagecoaches and mule-drawn drays. In 1856, we were able to claim the fastest time to Nashville, a mere 52 hours on primitive dirt roads.  After the introduction of the automobile, Mr. Patterson exchanged horses and mules for trucks, taxicabs, and busses to continue as a leader and innovator in the transportation industry.

In 1975 J.W. Bell, who founded Bell Drayage and Bell Cartage Company, bought Patterson Transfer which included a 30,000 square foot warehouse operation from the Patterson family.  The purchase primarily was to obtain Patterson’s trucking authority when trucking was still federally regulated. The company has continued to grow and prosper. After Mr. Bell’s retirement in 1991, the reins were handed over to his son, Sammy Bell.  Sammy has devoted his entire career to the continued success and development of the company and its dedicated employees.
